Korean Conflict - received a Purple Heart and Soldier's Medal for heroism in rescuing and saving the life of a priest.
He received the key to the Town of Fishers, along with many other awards. He volunteered for everything he could, including every year at teh Fishers Freedom Festival. There is a scholarship awarded each year by the FFF in his name.
"Ken Wright was a prominent figure in Fishers, as well as
Hamilton County. For a number of years Ken was involved in
numerous organizations and activities. In 1989, Ken received
the Fishers Key to the Town Award. This was the third key
issued by the Fishers Town Council and was given to Ken in
recognition of his efforts to improve the quality of life in The Town of Fishers. Ken had been a member of the Fishers Freedom Festival Committee for several years prior to his passing."
Being the only grandchild old enough to really remember him, he wrote me many letters full of advice for when i grew up. I have many small momentos including his rather lrge stamp collection, a picture frame, a Footprints in the Sand poem, and a 3 foot tall plastic bunny which he turned into a bank.
Two memories that I will always remember is going to Dairy Queen after swim practice and riding fast on golf carts around the FFF.
