Charles Nelson Riley Dickens Brown was a great cat that we called Charlie. He had long hair and at one time my father accidentally dropped a tire on his tail, so his tail was half as long as it should be. A couple of ladies once visited our house and was amazed at Charlie, saying he was a very rare Persian cat since he had a bobbed tail. My dad hated to tell them that Charlie had not been born that way.
Charlie's favorite meal was raw liver and he loved to "play" with my father's baby guineas. Trouble was, he played too rough and always killed them. Once my father shot above Charlie, intending to scare him from doing that but unbeknownst to my father, the bullet ricocheted off a rock and entered Charlie's skin. Charlie recovered from that, and had the casing of that shell in his skin from then on. Charlie loved to have his picture taken, and sometimes posed.
