Residence: Somerset, Wabash Co, Indiana. Enlisted on 25 August 1861 as a Corporal in "I" Co. 8th Indiana Infantry. He re-enlisted on 1 January 1864. He was Mustered Out on 28 August 1865 at Savannah, GA. Bridges was 24 years old at the time of his enlistment. He stood 5'8" had a dark complexion, hazel eyes, dark hair, and was occupied as a farmer before the war. After the war Bridges became a member of the James Emmett G.A.R. Post in Wabash, Indiana.

Married Mary Ellen Moore on 10 May 1864 in Grant County, Indiana while on leave.

1870: Residing Wabash, Indiana. Husband of Mary; parents of Frank and Edward. Occupation: Laborer.

1880: Residing East Maple Street, Wabash, Indiana. Husband of Mary; parents of Frank, Edward, Lottie and Dilla. Occupation: Building contractor.

1897 Feb 25 - Logansport Journal: "Thomas Bridges, a leading contractor of Wabash, is alarmingly sick, being at the point of death."

Died at age 60 years, 4 months, 9 days.

Wabash, Ind., April 11.—Thomas Bridges, one of the old residents of this city and a leading Grand Array man, died at 7 o'clock this evening at his home. He had been Ill for four months of Addison disease of the liver, and has literally died by inches. Mr. Bridges was about sixty years old. He was a contractor and builder who did work all over northern Indiana, He leaves a widow and four children.
