Nov 27, 1992 - Carroll Times - Eleanora L. "Nora" Pottebaum, 60, of Carroll, died unexpectedly Thursday, Nov. 26, 1992, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll. Mass of the Christian burial for Mrs. Pottebaum will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday Nov. 28, 1992, at St. Lawrence Church in Carroll with the Rev. Robert Gralapp officiating. Casket bearers will be grandsons Matt Pottebaum, Jeff Heuton, and Chad Heuton and nephews Rich Golwltzer, Dan Golwitzer, and Randy Drees. Lector for the Mass will be sister-in-law, Elaine Pottebaum. Gift bearers will be grandsons Nick Pottebaum and Mark Heuton. Mass servers will be nephews Keith and Kent Pottebaum. Eucharistic minister will be sister-in-law Louvine Pottebaum. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Friends called and a rosary was held this afternoon at Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. St. Lawrence Parish will hold a wake service at 7:30 tonight at the funeral home, followed by a rosary at 8:15.

Mrs. Pottebaum was born March 13, 1932, at rural Dedham, a daughter of John and Clara (Heman) Golwitzer. At age 3, she moved with her family to the Willey community, where she attended St. Mary's School. She and Vernon Pottebaum were married on Dec. 27, 1950, at St. John Church in Ogeden with the Rev. O.W. Koester officiating. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in Carroll. In 1967, they moved to Ames, returning to Carroll in 1978.

Mrs. Pottebaum had been employed as a home furnishings packer for Crouse Transfer and Storage Allied Van Lines of Carroll for many years. She was a member of St. Lawrence Parish in Carroll and the Parish Ladies Guild. She was also a member of the Carroll Moose Lodge.

She is survived by her husband, Vernon, of Carroll; a son, Martin Pottebaum, and his wife, Bonnie, and their children, Matt and Nick, of Lidderdale; a daughter, Lois Heuton and her husband, Lonnie, and their children, Jeff, Chad, and Mark, of Glidden; three brothers, Arnold Golwitzer and his wife, Marcella, of Carroll; Clarence Golwitzer and his wife, Mary Ann, of Wesley, Iowa; and John Golwitzer and his wife, Theresa, of Algona: four sisters: Martha Hagedorn of Manning; Regina Vogt and her husband, Lloyd, of Rochester, Minn; Leona Drees of Carroll; and Alvina Rotert and her husband, Norbert, of Carroll; two sisters-in-law, Josephine Golwitzer of Carroll and Marian Golwitzer of Carroll; and her father-in-law, John Pottebaum, of Carroll.

Mrs. Pottebaum was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, JoAnn, in infancy; and two brothers, Leonard and Fred Golwitzer.
