Funeral services for Thomas Byrne, age 80, who passed away Nov. 3 at the Woods Nursing Home in Faribault were held Nov. 5 at 10 a.m. at the St. Canice Catholic Church in Kilkenny. The Rev. Paul Dudley officiated at the Solemn Requiem High Mass assisted by the Rev. Francis Dudley and the Rev. William McGrade. The Rev. Vincent Dudley was in the church sanctuary. The church choir sang for the service. The pallbearers were his nephews, Joseph Smith and John Dudley of Shieldsville, Robert and Richard Brennan of St. Paul and James Hackett and Edward McGillen of Kilkenny. Interment was in the St. Canice Cemetery. Thomas Byrne, the son of John and Bridget Cahill Byrne, was born March 29, 1882 in Kilkenny. He attended the rural schools in Le Sueur County and in August of 1911 he was united in marriage to Mary Dudley at St. Patrick's Catholic Church of Shieldsville. Following their marriage they made their home on a farm east of Kilkenny until 1958 when they moved to Faribault. Mr. Byrne was a member of St. Canice Catholic Church and served on the Kilkenny Township board, the Creamery board and the rural school board for many years. He is survived by his widow, Mary; three sons, Vincent of Bemidji, John of St. Paul and Francis of Silver Springs, Md.; 13 grandchildren and four sisters, Miss Ann Byrne and Mrs. William J. Cronin, both of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. A. H. Anfang (Kathryn) of St. Peter and Mrs. Leo Brennan (Agnes) of St. Paul. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters: Mrs. Alice Gillespie, Mrs. Letitia Hackett of Kilkenny and Mrs. Mary Swan of Goldendale, Wash. and three brothers: Frank, John and Michael. Relatives and friends who attended the funeral were from Silver Springs, Md., Bemidji, St. Paul, Minneapolis, Hopkins, Stillwater, St. Peter, Savage, Waterville, Hastings, St. Henry, Le Center, Le Sueur, Northfield, Faribault, Lonsdale and Shieldsville.
