Funeral services were held Saturday, afternoon for Michael Reich, who passed away at the age of 83 in his home, 39 Marquette Rd., East Gary, on Jan. 24, at the Pflughoeft chapel in Hobart, with Rev. Leonard Nowell of the Full Gospel Tabernacle officiating.
A resident of East Gary for the past 75 years, the deceased was born in South Chicago. During his lifetime he was a memeber of the I.O.O.F. of Hammond the Genesis Order of the Rebekah in Gary, and many other organizations.
He is survived by four daughters, Lula Burnett, Lillian Anderson, Anna Hoffman and Mae Curtis; two brothers, Henry of Lac Du Flambeau, Wisc. and Albert of East Gary; also seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
For a number of years, Reich operated and owned a Hammond department store. Upon retiring from business, he farmed until recent years.
Burial was in Oak Hill cemetery.
The medal he wears on his chest is still held today by Kaleen Curtis Follow.
