Max was at football practice on August 20, 2008 when he suffered a heat stroke. According to one report his temperature was 107 degrees when he reached the hospital. He was in excellent physical condition. Hopefully this can be a learning experience for all parents and coaches. *** Please make sure your child is hydrated BEFORE going to practice.*** Make sure they have access to a drink that will replenish electrolytes when they have outdoor practices. Water is of absolute necessity, but electrolytes are just as important. The coaches at PRP followed all of the rules about water and rest breaks. Bad things happen to good people, and we don't understand why. Just please remember Max's family and friends in your prayers. The student body of PRP, as well as surrounding schools, are devastated about this tragedy.
The football season this year will be dedicated to Max's memory. Please pray they will have a winning season. I believe this will help his team members overcome their grief quicker, and the student body heal better.
See you on the other side Max...
