Edith Kiecorius
Birth: 1956
Kings County (Brooklyn)
New York, USA
Death: Feb. 22, 1961
New York
New York County (Manhattan)
New York, USA

Edith was a 4 year old who with her mother and brother visited her uncle in the Chelsea section of NY on Washington's Birthday. She was playing outside, as most children did back then, and shortly after 4 PM was discovered missing.
After a massive manhunt that ranged from NYC to Chicago, to Massachusetts, her body was found 4 days later in a run down hotel.
More than 1000 mourners attended a Mass of the Angels on March 2, 1961 at St Rose of Lima Church, Brooklyn, NY
She was laid to rest next to her father, Albinas, who died the year she was born.
Edith was survived by her mother, brother, and grandmother.

She is also remembered by many who lived during her disappearance and were touched by the event. This story was front page for almost one year.

The person who did this was convicted of first degree murder and kidnapping.

A very big thank you to Lillian A. Young Mioduski for sponsoring Edith's pages.
