Stanley Truman Dahl was born in Cottage Grove, Wisconsin, one of 8 children born to Ole Tobias Dahl and Julia Simonson Dahl.
Stanley served in the U.S. Army during World War II from September 14, 1942 to November 21, 1945. He was assigned to the 855th Ordnance Heavy Automotive Maintenance as a mechanic. According to discharge papers he was involved in campaigns in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe.
On January 17, 1958, at the age of 44, he married Dorothy Ruth Wilke in Dubuque, Iowa. They had 4 children. Three of those children spent most of their childhood in foster care. His last known occupation was as a laborer in a milk processing plant.
For several years prior to his death, Stanley was in ill health having both legs amputated and spending several years in a nursing home in Stoughton, Wisconsin. On August 5, 1974, at the age of 61, Stanley suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and passed away. He was buried alongside his parents and one brother at St. Paul's Liberty Lutheran Church in Deerfield, Wisconsin.
