Susan Romberger Kepler Bowman was the daughter of Daniel Romberger and Eva Romberger. She was sister to Luther Romberger and Gilbert "the saddler" Romberger. This makes her my great grandpa Daniel H. Romberger's aunt, that is, his father's sister.
Susan's father Daniel died at the age of 23 when she was quite young, less than a year old. Her mother Eva was later remarried and had more children with her new husband. Susan likely had little memory of her father, and was raised in a blended household.
Susan married Abraham aka David Kepler and had children Joseph M. Kepler, Adam Kepler, Mary Kepler, and Elmer Kepler. The 1860 census shows her living with "David" and children Joseph (age 6), Adam (4) and Mary (2). The 1870 census shows Susan living only with youngest son Elmer, age 3.
When Abraham Kepler died, Susan eventually was remarried to Uriah Bowman, son of George and Esther Bowman. Susan and her second husband Uriah had a daughter, May Bowman, aka E. Mae Bowman, later Emma M. Noll.
Abraham, aka David Kepler appears to have served in the Civil War in PA 172nd PA Regiment Co. K, which was recruited in Schuylkill and Northumberland Counties. His last child with Susan was born 1866 or 1867.
