Obituary:

North Augusta, SC—Funeral services for Mrs. Myrtle Anderson Johnson, 88, formerly of Hammond Place, who entered into rest September 12, 2009, will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the First Baptist Church of North Augusta. Rev. Jerry T. Matthews and Rev. Don L. Johnson officiating. Interment in Pineview Memorial Park.

Mrs. Johnson was a life-long resident of North Augusta. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of North Augusta where she taught Sunday School, Sunbeams, Girls in Action, Special Education and was a member of the Sheffield Club. Mrs. Johnson was a caregiver for the elderly and many children in the community. She delivered Meals on Wheels and loved preparing meals for neighbors. Mrs. Johnson was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Jesse C. Lynch Memorial Post #71 where she previously served as Historian. Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, D. Hugh Johnson, Sr., two brothers, Rodger and Lonnie Anderson; a sister, Hazel Joiner; a half-sister, Maxine Sterling.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, David H. and Teresa Johnson, Jr., Smyrna, GA, Dan E. and Jane Johnson, Mauldin, SC and Don L. Johnson, Belvedere, SC; two daughters and a son-in-law, Cheryl J. Kilpatrick, Augusta, GA and Carolyn "Cookie" D. Jones and her husband Wayne; nine grandchildren, Cassie Fuchs, Danny A. Johnson, Eric R. Johnson, Jamie Watson, Wendy Warren, Brian Johnson, Alan Jones, Jonathan Jones and Jessica Jones; 14 great-grandchildren and many special nieces and nephews.

Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the North Augusta Public Safety, local school crossing guards and members of American Legion Auxiliary of Jesse C. Lynch Memorial Post #71.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home this Monday evening from 6 until 8.
