Maria married Herman Bekehermes on January 23, 1884. They were the parents of Henry, Herman, Ben, Elizabeth, Anna, and Mary.

Dedham Mrs. Mary Bekehermes, 81, died at 3 o'clock Sunday morning of pneumonia at the farm home of her son & daughter, Ben and Mary Bekehermes. She had suffered for several years from high blood pressure, but her last illness dated only from April 18. At 8 o'clock Wednesday morning the requiem mass will be read by Rev. Father N. Hoes in St. Joseph's Church. Burial will take place at Roselle at 10 a. m., Rev. Father Louis Anthofer officiating. Pallbearers will be William Muhr, Frank Tlgges, John Seidl, John J Wiskus. August T. Meyer and Frank Peter. The body was taken Sunday evening from the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll to the home of her son and daughter, Ben and Mary, two miles south, one mile east, and a half mile south of Dedham to rest until the time of the rites.

Mary Butterberg, daughter of Gerhard Butterberg, was born Sept. 15, 1800, at Kettenkamp, Germany. When twenty-three years old she came from there to Iowa and was employed in Dubuque and Bellevue until coming to the Roselle community where on Jan. 23, 1884, she was married to Herman Bekehermes in Holy Angels Church, Roselle. Mr. Bekehermes died March 30, 1931, on the farm near Carroll where their son, Herman, lives.

She is survived by three sons, Herman of Roselle, Henry, Coon Rapids, and Ben at home; three daughters, Elizabeth (Mrs. Herman Tunning), Anna (Mrs. Theodore Tunning), both of Coon Rapids, and Mary at home. She has many surviving relatives in Germany, but none other than her children and grandchildren in this country, since she was the sole member of her family who came from Germany. She was a member of St Joseph's Church since coming to the Dedham community about eight years ago to make her home with her son and daughter on the farm.
