Willard William (Bill) Rodgers, Jr.

ATHENS - Willard William (Bill) Rodgers Jr., 68, of Athens, Ohio, formerly of Wheeling, WV., died Saturday evening, October 8, 2005 at his home surrounded by his family and friends, following a 5 year battle with cancer.

He was born April 18, 1937 in Wheeling, WV., and was the son of the late Willard W. and Odna Irene Riggs Rodgers.

He was a retired employee of AEP, Meigs Co. Mine Division and formerly employed at Valley Camp Coal Co., and Stegman and Shellhase in Wheeling, WV. He was a 50 year member of the First Christian Church in Wheeling, WV., and also a life time member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Elm Grove, WV.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Beatrice Plunkett Rodgers; four sons, Andrew W. Rodgers and wife Debra of Morgantown, WV., Dale R. Rodgers and wife Paula of Lewis Center, Ohio, Richard A. Rodgers and wife Debra of Port Charlotte, Fla., and Brad S. Rodgers and wife Tina of The Plains, Ohio; a brother, Robert D. Rodgers and wife Nancy of Wheeling, WV.; a sister, Madeline Richards of St. Clairsville, Ohio; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Peg and Phil Gramlich of Wheeling, WV.; a sister-in-law Margorie Hicks of Clermont, Fla.; a brother in law Harry E. Plunkett and wife Dorothy of California; seven grandchildren, Clint Rodgers, Daesha Rodgers McClay and husband Eben, Shannon Rodgers, Courtney Rodgers, Kye Rodgers, Braley Rodgers, and Brody Rodgers; and loving nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John Plunkett; and two brothers-in-law, John Richards and Arlie Hicks.

Friends may call at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home, Athens on Tuesday from 6 to 8 PM. Friends may also call on Wednesday from 6 to 8 PM at Kepner Funeral Home, Elm Grove, 166 Kruger, Wheeling, WV., 26003.

Services will be held Thursday at 11 AM at Kepner Funeral Home, Wheeling, WV. Graveside services will follow at Parkview Memorial Gardens, Wheeling, WV.
