LEWISBURG Ruth E. Fritz, 75, Lewisburg, passed away Friday, August 31, 2007, at Riverwoods, where she had been residing the past year and a half. She and her husband had resided at River View Manor since 2003 but were former long-time residents of Turbotville. Born in Muncy on August 3, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Vergina (O'Brien) Brittain. On June 26, 1953 she married William E. Fritz, Sr. and they celebrated 53 years of marriage until his death August 29, 2006. A 1951 graduate of Muncy High School, Ruth had worked as a proctor at Turbotville Elementary School earlier in her life. She later retired from Liberty Mutual, Williamsport where she worked 18 years. Following her retirement she volunteered at Kramm Nursing Home, Watsontown. A member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Turbotville, she was a member of their "Jolly Bunch" and the former Lutheran Church Women. She had also served on the Altar Guild. She was a member of the Watsontown Chapter 282, Order of the Eastern Star. She was a former member of the Turbotville Civic Club and the Thursday Club and earlier in her life she enjoyed baking, crocheting, ceramics and most all crafts. Ruth especially looked forward to the special times she spent with "the Girls", her former high school classmates. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, William E. Fritz, Jr. and his wife, Wanda of Watsontown and Steven A. Fritz and his wife, Barbara of Watsontown; five grandchildren, Jason Fritz and his wife, Crystie, Melinda Roy and her husband, James, Brian Fritz and his wife, Jennifer, Eric and Todd Fritz; two great-grandsons, Micah and Tate Fritz; three brothers, Richard Brittain, Hughesville, James Brittain, Elimsport, H. Thomas Brittain, Muncy; and two sisters, Shirley Sheesley and Tina Prokop, both of Muncy. The funeral service will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Paradise St., Turbotville, with the Rev. Erwin C. Roux, her pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy. Friends are invited to call at the church from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday and at Brooks Funeral Home, 207 Broadway St., Turbotville from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday where the Order of the Eastern Star will conduct a memorial service at 6:45 p.m.
