Loraine Walker, 83, of Wheaton, passed away July 6 at Wynscape Nursing Home Facility in Wheaton of complications from a broken hip. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and caregiver. Loraine was born in Chicago November 4, 1925 to Monroe and Lillian McClelland. She was raised in Chicago, was class Secretary of her 1943 Morgan Park HS Class and attended DePauw University where she belonged to Delta Delta Delta Sorority. After her June 14, 1946 marriage, she returned with her husband, Bruce, to DePauw where she supported him through his last two years of college.

After college, they returned to Chicago where she worked as a Secretary until she became a nurturing mom. In 1956 they moved with their three sons to Wheaton where they have continued to live except for two years in California.

As the last of her boys finished school, Loraine returned to work as a Secretary. She worked with DuPage Area Vocational Educational Authority helping in creating, funding, building and operating DAVEA, a DuPage Vocational School which is now the Technology Center of DuPage. In later years, she became a temp for Kelly Girl, and many Wheaton government agencies. She was always in demand because of her competency, strong work ethic and pleasant disposition.

She has been very active in First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton, having served as a Deacon, Stephen Minister and on multiple committees and task forces.

Loraine is survived by her husband of 63 years, Bruce; sons, Bruce (Priscilla) of Palisade, Colorado, Neil (Dianne) of Elgin, and Scott (Judy) of Lombard; three grandchildren, Sarah and Keith of Lombard, and Matthew of Boulder, Colorado; step-grandson, Scott (Candy) Young; step-great granddaughter, Casey of Santa Clarita, California, sister, Jane (Paul) Ritsch of Hudson, Florida; nephews, Tom, Dave, and Bob Ritsch and Dave and Steve Walker; and a sister-in-law, Wanda Zamka.

Visitation Thursday from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Friday 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral service 10:00 a.m. at Williams-Kampp Funeral Home 430 East Roosevelt Road Wheaton, Illinois 60187 (one block east of Naperville Road). Interment will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois. A memorial service will be held on Sunday 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton 715 North Carlton, Wheaton, Illinois 60187.
