DATES: The date in the birth field is actually her CHRISTENING date. the date in the death field is actually her BURIAL date. (English parish registers report christenings & burials and more often than not don't include birth & death dates. Typically a child was christened shortly after birth.)

Jane Gill was the daughter of John Gill & Ann Thornton. Many family records report her parents to be Edward Gill and "Great Grandmother Gill." This has been disproved. Jane's father John Gill died about 1798, presumably in York, Yorkshire, England, though I've never found his burial record. (Edward Gill did exist - I believe him to be Jane's uncle - though believing and proving are two different things!)
