Major League Baseball Player. In 1962, he started at shortstop for the New York Yankees winning Rookie of the Year honors with a .286 batting average, 20 homers, 93 RBIs and 94 runs scored. With the Yankees, he played in three World Series 1962 to 1963, was an All Star in 1962, 1963 and won a Gold Glove in 1965. In a nine season career ending with the Detroit Tigers, he was a life time .245 hitter with 153 home runs and 530 RBIs in 1192 games. He died of a heart attack. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
