It seems likely, though it has not been proven, that George was the son of John Henry b. abt 1780 and his first wife whose identity is unknown. John took as his second wife Catherine Emerick Overmire, the widow of George Overmire (IV), the grandson of the immigrant Capt. John George Overmire.
If George is indeed the son of John Henry, then Levi Overmire (d. 1899) is his step-brother.
In 1849, George Henry, his second wife Franey and their family moved by wagon to Crawford Co., IL. It is very interesting to note that Nancy Overmier Dennis (daughter of George Overmire IV) and her family also moved there. The Henrys and the Overmires were apparently allied and may have made the move to Crawford Co. together. Levi Henry, son of George, married Catherine Dennis, the daughter of Nancy Overmier Dennis. Several Dennis family members are buried in Oblong Cemetery.
