|Birth: ||Mar., 1862|
Fenton married Elizabeth "Lizzie" Reed on April 27, 1888 in Marion County, Indiana. They had at least three children. Eva Maud is buried beside them. She died at 1½ years old. The other two children were William T. who was born in Nebraska in 1889 and Claudia B. who was born in Indiana in 1893.
In the 1870 Census, he was recorded in Brownsburg, Indiana, as Fountain Ayers, a 7 year old with parents, William (age 35 from Devensheer, England) and Mary (age 34 from Ohio), and brothers, Charles (11), Gardner (9) and Leander (3). By 1880, he was living with the H. John Davis family as a servant and was recorded as Finton (age 16). In 1900, 1920 and 1930, his name was recorded in the census records as Fenton. The tombstone was originally engraved as FINTON and the I was later changed to an E. His marriage record had his name recorded as Elvry Fenton Ayers.
He was listed in a USGenWeb online transcription as Elmer F. Ayers, born 1862 and died 1931. The only reason it is possible to confirm that it is meant to be him is that the entry below lists his wife, Elizabeth G. Ayers, born 1867 and died 1934, wife of Elmer.
Elizabeth Catherine Reed Ayers (1867 - 1934)
Eva Maud Ayers (1890 - 1892)*
Claudia B. Ayers Engle (1893 - 1972)*
For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that if I shall stand at the latter day upon the earth and tho after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God.
