Mrs. Martha P. Slagle, 73, daughter of the late Edward and Henrietta Davis Walmsley, died at her home on Kent Street, last Wednesday night. Her body rested at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jennings B. Townsend, in Fairlee until Saturday when it was returned to the Usilton and Wells Funeral Home in Chestertown where services were held from there at 2pm, the Rev. Milton H. Keene, pastor of Christ Methodist Church, officiating. Interment was made in Chester Cemetery. The bearers were her grandsons. The deceased is survived by two sons, William and Charles Slagle, of Chestertown, and one daughter, Mrs. Jennings B. Townsend, in Fairlee, 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. A sister, Mrs. Robert Subers and a brother, Dennis Walmsley, also survive.
