Firefighter Cooper was only a rookie the day he suffered the accident that would take his life. Riding the fire engine at Station 1 the crew had been training when they received a dispatched call. While on the way to a trash fire he fell off the truck while the Engine was turning a corner. The incident happened at the corner of Hamilton and Congress streets. After being transported to Saint Joseph Hospital he lost his life two days later.
Cause of Death: Head injuries due to a fall.
