Gary was born at about 28 weeks. He was the third child and only son of my sister and her husband, and from birth, he was a true fighter. He was born with a heart defect and spina bifida, among other things. I have been told two stories about his heart, one that it was completely reversed, and another that it had several holes in it, which did not allow his blood to filter as it would in a healthy heart. Only God knows the true answer. He is survived by his parents, three sisters (the third born three years later), grandparents, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Currently there is no grave marker. My mother did say he was buried under a tree, though.
When God calls little children to dwell with Him above,
We mortals sometime question the wisdom of His love.
For no heartache compares with the death of one small child,
Who does so much to make our world seem wonderful and mild.
Perhaps God tires of calling the aged to his fold,
So he picks a rosebud, before it can grow old.
God knows how much we need them, and so He takes but few
To make the land of Heaven more beautiful to view.
Believing this is difficult, still somehow we must try.
The saddest word mankind knows will always be "goodbye."
So when a little child departs, we who are left behind,
Must realize God loves children, Angels are hard to find.
Thank you, Sharon McNeely for sponsoring Little Gary!!
