Herbert H. Evans CHESAPEAKE
Herbert Harrell Evans, 81, of the 3100 block of Ida St., died Aug. 15, 2005. Mr. Evans was the son of the late Herbert Evans and Clyde Hooker Harrell Evans. Mr. Evans was a member of the VFW in Elizabeth City, N.C. He served in the U.S. Army and was a World War II veteran. Mr. Evans is survived by his wife, Jewell Irene Evans of Chesapeake; three sons, Harrell L. Evans Sr. and wife Robin of Chesapeake, Dennis R. Evans of Portsmouth and Herbert Alan Evans of Chesapeake: two grandchildren, Harrell L. Evans Jr. and wife Kristi of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Jeffery A. Evans of Chesapeake; one stepgrandchild, Micah M. Cofthern of Portsmouth; one great-grandchild, Landon C. Evans of Myrtle Beach; one brother, Joe Evans of Elizabeth City; and one sister, Carolyn Tibbetts of Georgia. A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Francis Gay Chapel of Oman Funeral Home, 1146 Rodgers St., South Norfolk. The interment will follow in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends today from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
