Funeral Rites For Harold Bower
Services For Young Man Held At Glasgow Methodist Church
The last rites for Harold Bower, who died Tuesday morning at his home near Glasgow, after a two weeks illness from scarlet fever and pneumonia were largely attended. The services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Glasgow Methodist church, which was filled to overflowing by relatives and friends. The casket was not taken into the church, but was left in the hearse and the family who were in quarantine, remained in the closed cars. Rev Otto Willson of Mt Pleasant officiated at the services, and internment was in the Glasgow cemetery nearby.
Harold Ball Bower, son of William Clarence and Edith Rebecca Bower, was born near Glasgow, Iowa, March 13, 1909, and departed this life October 23, 1928, age 19 years, 7 months, and 10 days, his entire life being spent in this community. He leaves to mourn his death his parents, two sisters, Katherine and Alyn, Miss Loraine Shumaker, of Mt Pleasant, Iowa his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wickham of Mt Pleasant; Mr. and Mrs. Alonza Williams of Sheandoah, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Jay, Miss Noble Ball, Mr. and Mrs. Frank P. Ball, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Erickson, Mrs. N.J. Calhoun, Pearl McLearn, and Harvey Crow, of Fairfield; Mr. and Mrs. George M. Ball, of Iowa City; and Mrs. Margaret Mill of Ottumwa.
He underwent and operation for appendicitis a few weeks ago from which he was recovering then he was stricken with scarlet fever. All was done that medical aid could do but to no avail.
Harold possessed a cheerful disposiotion which won him many friends who anxiously hoped for his recovery and mourn his untimely passing.
