Amarilloan dies in truck collision
The Texas Department of Public Safety responded to a two-vehicle accident Wednesday near a rest area west of Adrian on Interstate 40.
About 7:30 a.m., a 2007 International delivery truck collided with a 2007 International truck tractor-trailer from behind as the truck tractor was entering traffic from the rest area, said DPS spokesman Dan Hawthorne.
The driver of the delivery truck, Nicholas B. Lewis, 22, of Amarillo was pronounced dead at the scene by Oldham County Justice of the Peace Judy Ward, Hawthorne said.
Lewis was passing the rest area in the left lane. A witness saw Lewis with his hand up trying to block the glare of the sun, Hawthorne said.
The International truck tractor driven by Rodney C. Lewis of Snellville, Ga., was entering I-40 from the rest area, Hawthorne said. As Rodney Lewis entered the right lane of I-40 Nicholas changed lanes and ran into the back of Rodney's tractor-trailer.
