Mark came to Utah in 1860.
Mark was remembered as one of the most popular men and gifted musicians of the city of Salt Lake. His skill as a cornetist was widely known, and won for him praise and admiration of professionals at home and abroad.
As a mere boy he created something of a sensation in New York with his wonderful mastery of the cornet, a gift which afterward made him one of the leading musicians in Croxall's Band, a well-known organization first led by his father. He also played in the Salt Lake Theatre orchestra, of which he was a member for many years. Mark, while taking part in all the musical enterprises of early days in Utah.
Mark was busy in other ways, having been employed in the Deseret Telegraph office and also the office of Z.C.M.I. Later he was a member of the music firm of Careless & Croxall.
In 1868 he married Mary Young, a daughter of President Brigham Young, who died sometime later. He also married Miss Caroline Young, another daughter of President Young.
Aristocratic in looks and bearing, yet one of the most genial and affable of men, he was very popular among the associates of his young manhood.
