He was born Aug. 12, 1929, at Topeka, the son of Adam and Margaret Haefner Artzer.
He was a foreman for Seymour Foods and worked at the Menninger Foundation in security and maintenance. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Mr. Artzer was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Eagles Lodge No. 555 and American Legion Capitol Post No. 1, all of Topeka.
He married Aurelia Riedel on April 19, 1952, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Topeka. She survives.
Other survivors include his mother, of Topeka; two daughters, Sharron K. Roberts, Lecompton, and Karen M. Schaller, Lawrence; a brother, Leroy, Topeka; two sisters, Lorene Eilert, Wakarusa, and Rosemary Cavanaugh, Topeka; and three grandchildren.
