One of Houlka's oldest and most noble citizens , Mrs. Jim Harris passed away Monday night at her home here following a lengthy illness.

Early in life, Mrs. Harris, formerly Miss Martha Griffin, affiliated with the Methodist Church, to which she was loyal throughout her long and useful life. In March she celebrated her ninetieth birthday.

Mrs. Harris, always a loyal friend and devoted mother, reared a family of seven children, six of whom survive: Mrs. Plummer Pearson, of Laurel; Doctors Harley Harris of Memphis, John A Harris of Webb, and Robin Harris of Jackson, and Messrs. Jack Harris of Arkansas, Joe Harris of Memphis and Tom Harris of Houlka. the latter has made his home with his mother here since the death of Mr. Harris a number of years ago, and has been a devoted and constant companion during her illness.

Funeral services were held in the home Tuesday afternoon, with Rev. E M Shaw, Methodist pastor, and Rev. S P Andrews, Baptist pastor, in charge. Interment followed in the Old Houlka cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Messrs. W B, A B, F L, J S, W E Ellis and Tom Harris.

Out-of-town relatives attending Mrs. Harris' funeral were: Miss Nora Griffin of Houston, only surviving sister of the deceased; Dr. and Mrs. J A Harris and son of Webb; Mr. Jack Griffin Harris and son, Proctor, Ark.' Mrs. Joe M Harris and son, Memphis; Mrs. Laura L Pearson and daughter, of Laurel; Dr. and Mrs. Robin Harris and son, Jackson; Dr. and Mrs. Harley Harris and son, Memphis; Mr. Joe Pratt of Shawnee, Okla., a nephew; Misses Catherine and Caroline Reed, Oxford, great great nieces; Mrs. Mabel Pratt Reed, Oxford, great niece; Miss Lucille Pearson, Laurel, and Mrs. May Pearson Ford, Taylorville, grandchildren; Billy Ford, Taylorsville, great grandson, and Mr. W C Ford, Taylorsville; Misses Catherine, Amelia, and Mattie May Harris, and Joe Milton Harris of Memphis; Mr. and Mrs. A B Harris and daughter; Mr. and Mrs. Everett Harris; Mr. and Mrs. J S Harris and daughter, Miss May; and Mr. and Mrs. W E Harris, all of Pontotoc; Mrs. Irene Wilson Sosebee, Bucklin, Kansas.

In addition to the relatives a large number of out of town friends attended, among them, Mr. and Mrs. Palmer, of Memphis, parents of Mrs. Harley Harris.
