Dr. Rev. Waitman Thomas Hartley, grandfather of Homestead Park Methodist Church Minister John H. Hartley, died yesterday at the Elder Crest Nursing Home here.
Dr. Hartley, 92, had been in ill health during the past year.
Friends of the family will be received at the Harry Corl Funeral Home on Edgewood Avenue in Trafford until noon Saturday.
Funeral services will be conducted at the First Methodist Church of Trafford at 1 p.m. Speakers will include Dr. W. Sproule Boyd, superintendent of the Pittsburgh-East District of the Methodist Church, and the Rev. Donald Dalke, minister of the Trafford church.
Dr. Hartley had been a member of the Pittsburgh Methodist Conference more than 50 years and had served at numerous churches including those in Wilmerding, Christy Park and Dravosburg.
He was superintendent of the Methodist Home for the Aged between 1912 and 1914 when it was located in Dravosburg.
He was at the time of his death a life-member of the board of the home, now located in Mt. Lebanon.
The clergyman attended Waynesburg College and received his bachelor of divinity degree at Drew Seminary, N.J., in 1903. He earned his doctor of divinity degree at Waynesburg.
He submitted his official retirement in 1945 but later served for three years as minister of the Mt. Pleasant *Mehtodist Church.
Before entering the nursing home here, he maintained his own residence in Trafford.
His wife, Anna Gass Hartley, died several years ago.
Survivors include three sons, Olin K. of Clearwater, Fla.; John F. of Trafford and Elijah of Cleveland; a daughter, Mrs. Nellie Ayres, living in Turkey, and several grandchildren.
