Mrs. Edith A. Lady, 40, of 205 E. Irving St., Normal, a part-time assistant cashier and billing clerk in the Daily Pantagraph business office, died at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Brokaw Hospital. She had been ill for about three months and entered the hospital Tuesday night.
She was taken to the Metzler Memorial Home. Visitation will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday at the memorial home. Her funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Normal Baptist Church, with burial in East Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Lady was born at Waverly Oct. 20, 1914, a daughter of C.E. and Ella Keplinger Short. She was married to Walter P. Lady March 23, 1933, and they came to Bloomington-Normal in 1946. Mrs. Lady took employment with the Pantagraph in March 1953.
Surviving are her husband; three daughters, Janet, Joan and Peggy Jo, at home; her mother of 1006 S. Summit St. and two sisters, Mrs. Rachel Barnes of 1006 S. Summit St. and Mrs. Ethel Redfern of Decatur. Her father and a brother preceded her in death.
Edith was the middle of three daughters born to Charles Edgar Short and Ella Loretta Keplinger. She married Walter P. Lady 23 March 1933 at White Hall, Greene County, Illinois. Edith and Walter had three daughters, all of whom are living.
