Husband of Ellen (Veracka) Araujo, to whom he was married for 19 years, father of Bernard W., Bryon C. and Patricia, stepfather to Stephen and Diana. He was a son of the late Bernard and Mary (Vincent) Araujo. He grew up in Onset and Fitchburg and graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1945. He resided in Littleton for the past 19 years, where he was a member of St. Anne Church.

He served in the Navy during World War II.

Before retiring in 1993, he was a customer service representative at the Worcester Post Office. Previously, he was a postal worker for many years at the Fitchburg Post Office. He also worked at Hedstrom Associates in Fitchburg.

He was also the vice chairman of Littleton Council on Aging and a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
