Ruby McElvain Lewis, 83 years of age, of Science Hill, Kentucky, departed this life and entered into eternal peace at home with her loving family on Thursday, January 31st, 2013.

Ruby was born on August 19th, 1929, daughter of the late Edward and Elsie Hurst McElvain.

She was survived by three sons, Dale (and Diana) Lewis, Randy Lewis, and Greg Lewis, all of Science Hill, Kentucky; one daughter, Brenda Lewis Edwards of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; two sisters, Betty Melton of Eubank, Kentucky and Candace Miller of Somerset, Kentucky; one grandson, Caleb Lewis of Moab, Utah; and a host of other family and friends who mourn her passing.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert Lewis, whom she married in 1946; her parents, Edward and Elsie McElvain; three brothers, James McElvain, Edward McElvain, and Michael Lewis; and one grandson, James Michael Lewis.

Memorial services were held at a later date.


I'd like the memory of me
to be a happy one.
I'd like to leave an after glow
of smiles when life is done.
I'd like to leave an echo
whispering softly down the ways,
Of happy times and laughing times
and bright and sunny days.
I'd like the tears of those who grieve,
to dry before the sun
of happy memories
that I leave when my life is done.

Those we love remain with us for love itself lives on. Cherished memories will never fade, because one loved is gone. Those we love can never be, more than a thought apart, for as long as there is a memory, they live with in our heart.
