George Davenport Wilson
Birth: 1830
Death: Jun. 18, 1862

Civil War Union Army Figure. He served as a Private in Company B, 2nd Ohio Volunteer Infantry Regiment, Union Army and was member of the Andrews Raiders. In April 1862, he was one of the 22 men which included 2 civilians who penetrated nearly 200 miles south into Confederate enemy territory. There they captured a railroad train at Big Shanty, Georgia in an attempt to destroy the bridges and track between Chattanooga and Atlanta. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
