Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday January 19th at Gunderson Funeral Chapel with the Rev. James I. Meadows officiating. Interment will be at Indian Mound Cemetery, Humboldt. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday Jan. 18 at Gunderson Funeral Home.
Mary Jane Myles, daughter of Arch B. and Ann J. (Volberding) Myles, was born September 28, 1915 in Humboldt, Iowa. She graduated from Humboldt High School in 1932, attended Grinnell College, graduated from the University of Iowa in 1938, and taught grade school in Dakota City. Mary Jane was united in marriage to Martin Van Patten, M.D. on April 15, 1938 in Norfolk, Nebraska.
Mary Jane was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Fort Dodge. She was a 50 year member of PEO Chapter IM in Fort Dodge, an active member of Questers International, Art Club and Chautauqua. She enjoyed travel and her family.
Mary Jane is survived by her sons, Myles (Nylene) Van Patten of Humboldt and Charles (Betty Jo) Van Patten of Maple Plain, Minnesota: grandchildren Loren (Ellen) Van Patten, Michael (Nicole) Van Patten and great-grandson Blake. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
Memorials may be left to Trinity Regional Medical Center Chaplain's Service or Hospice of Fort Dodge.
