Former Pierce Resident Dies In Missouri
E. H. Wagoner, who was a well know resident of these parts some eighteen years ago, died at his home at Liberty, Missouri, last Wednesday at the age of 72 years, 5 months and 13 days. Mr. Wagoner was here for several weeks last fall visiting his daughter, Mrs. Herman Zibell. He had been in poor health for some time and had been rusticating on a ranch belonging to his daughter and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Anderson, near Hyannis, Nebraska. He was much improved in health and beginning to feel like his old self when here. He suffered from an attack of the heart disease about a month ago and succumbed to this disease. Elias H. Wagoner was born in Bland county, Virginia, on October 4, 1853, and died at Liberty, Missouri, March 17, 1926. He was united in marriage to Miss Louise Jane Burge, December 18, 1881, by Rev. F. F. Repass, of the above county. To this union were born four children of whom three are living. The oldest son, George, passed away in Pierce March 21, 1901. The surviving children, are Mrs. Herman Zibell, of Pierce; Mrs. Myrtle Anderson, of Hyannis, Nebraska, and Kelly Wagoner, of Liberty, Mo. Besides the wife and children the deceased is survived by three sisters and three brothers, viz: Mesdames Amanda Neff, Effie Gerring and Alice Hubbel, of Virginia, and George, Hiram and Willis Wagoner, of Liberty, Missouri. Mr. and Mrs. Wagoner came to early day. In 1910 the family moved Pierce county from Virginia at an (sic) to Liberty where they have since made their home. Mr. Wagoner was a good neighbor and was always good natured and a friend to all. Funeral services were held at the M. E. church last Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by the pastor, Rev. R. F. Farley. Burial took place at Prospect View cemetery. The pall bearers were Messrs. F. L. Hilgert, Lewis Hall, M. M. Havel, J. G. McDonald, Byron Vanderpool and H. F. Grunwald.
