A Memorial Service for James Lee Braman will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 2, 2011 in the chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Pineville, with Rev. Elizabeth Moffatt officiating.
Lee, 73, of Pineville, passed away on Friday, January 28, 2011 in Lafayette General Medical Center, Lafayette.
He was employed as Administrative Assistant and Coordinator of Volunteer Staff at the Louisiana Maneuvers and Military Museum at Camp Beauregard. He was a veteran of the U.S Army National Guard.
Lee was also very active in the community serving as Boy Scout Leader, Volunteer with American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, AmVets (Lifelong membership), and at the VA Hospital, receiving a citation for the highest number of volunteer hours. He was also an advocate for Partners in Literacy and St. Mary's Residential Training School; a supporter of St. Joseph's Indian School, St. Labre Indian School and Boys Town. He was also President of the Board at Valentine Community Church.
He is survived by both family and friends: soul-mate for the past 11 years, Mae Hart; his son, James L. Braman, Jr.; brother, Dr. Dale Braman; close friend, Ronald Spears and wife Anita; 'adopted' niece, Beverly Matlock and husband Gary; dear friend, Nokia Drake and husband, Norman; extended family of friends at Pine Grove Apartments; a tender-heart friend, Frankie Alexander; and his hometown band of brothers, staff and volunteers of the Louisiana Maneuvers and Military Museum.
