GOLDEN WEDDING ANNIVERSARY:Everett Brazeltons Celebrate Golden Wedding Anniversary: Mr. & Mrs. Everett Brazeltons of Blackwell will observe their golden wedding anniversary December 23 with a reception in the Blackwell Country Club, Friends and relatives are invited to attend the event from 2:30 PM until 5. The couple requests that there be no gifts. Hosts for the occasion will be the couple's children Mr. & Mrs. Roy (Mary Kay) Peters of Middletown, Ohio, and Mrs. and Mrs. John (Nancy) Powers of Scottsdale, AZ. Expected to Attend the event are the honoree's grandchildren, Mrs. R. E. Johnston of Kansas City, MO, Jackie, Michael, Seanna, Maurine, Patrick and Mary Powers. The pair has three great grandchildren, Michelle, Ricky and Pete Johnston. The Brazeltons are descendants of pioneer families in the area. They have resided on a farm 2 1/2 miles north on Dilworth Road since their marriage Dec 24, 1918 in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Blackwell. Mrs. Brazelton is the daughter of William Frederick Kort, who staked a claim one mile east on Chrysler and one-half miles south of Blackwell in the run. Brazelton's grandfather, Samuel Robinson, claimed the land forming the farm where the Brazeltons reside.

Everett Brazelton, retired Blackwell area farmer, died at 2 A.M. Monday (Nov.24) in Scottsdale Heritage Court at Scottsdale, AZ. He was 88. The funeral is set for 2 P.M. Wednesday in the First Christian Church of Blackwell, where he was a member. Rev. George Wood, pastor, will officiate. Casket bearers will be Kenneth Kivett, Max Ruggs, George Kriter, Jim McKee, Max Courtney and Ray Honick. Burial will be in the IOOF cemetery. Mrs. Brazelton was born in Kansas on September 2, 1898, and came to Kay County with his parents as a child. He grew up locally and received his education in the community, graduating from Blackwell High School in 1917. In 1918, he married Veronica Kay Kort and they settled on a farm east of the city. Mrs. Brazelton died Jan 2, 1973. Later in 1973, he married Bertie Brazelton in Newkirk and they made their home on the farm until moving to Sernley, NV in 1985. Survivors are his wife, Bertie, of Sernley; tow daughters, Mrs. Roy (Kay) Peters of Franklin, OH, and Mrs. David (Nancy) Conner of Scottsdale, nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. The family will gather at the church at 1 P.M. Wednesday. Roberts and Son Funeral is in charge of arrangements.
