Billie Allen Hall
Birth: Sep. 21, 1939, USA
Death: Mar. 9, 1966, Vietnam

Staff Sgt. Hall of Sand Springs, Oklahoma was killed in Vietnam while serving with the United States Army. When people speak of Billie, they use words like courage, bravery and sacrifice. It was March of 1966, the early stages of the Vietnam War, when he was killed at the battle of Camp A Shau along Vietnam's border with Laos. Billie was an Army Special Forces Medic, and despite his own injuries during a mortar attack he risked his life to help wounded American soldiers and Vietnamese allies. He still would not give up. He still helped people because he was the only medic there. Even when a mortar took his own legs, Billie continued to crawl on the battlefield to help soldiers in need. He refused morphine because he felt he would pass out and not be of any help. Billie was posthumously awarded the Distinguished Service Cross. He left behind two young daughters and a loving wife. He is honored on Panel 5E, Row 132 of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

God bless you throughout Winter, the cold, harsh season in which nature sleeps and goes dormant, awaiting the arrival of Spring. Rest in Peace.
