Oogie was a sweet cat, whose mission in life it was simply to love. Saying her name was enough to get her started purring, and she was perfectly content to be a lap cat, kneading and purring for hours at a time.
Her favorite "toy" was a simple wadded up piece of paper and as little as a week before she passed, she was batting a piece of paper around. In her younger days, she loved to roam outdoors, but as age took hold, it became necessary for her to remain an indoor cat for her own safety. She spent long hours lying on the back of a chair watching out the window.
Oogie's name started out as a joke. As a kitten, she was scrawny and very unattractive, so much so that we took to calling her "Oooooglie." My niece Sarah, who was just a toddler at the time could not say "Ooooooglie" and instead called her "Oogie." The name just stuck. She by far and away outgrew her ugliness, and was a beautiful calico cat. She also answered readily to "Baby Girl" and "Sissy."
She will be missed more than words can say.
