A Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted at 1 p.m., Sunday, at East Side Church of Christ, with Minister Jeff Archey officiating. A graveside service will follow at 3:30 p.m. (CST) at Franklin Memorial Gardens in Winchester, Tennessee, with Ronnie Ray, officiating. Members of the Cleveland Police Department Honor Guard will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Luther Westfield, Bob Nipper, Ronnie Ray, James Dearth, Ken Hirsh, Jacob Simpson, and Joshua Simpson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be given to a trust fund that is in the process of being set up for Lieutenant Simpson's two sons' education.

The family will receive friends from 3-8 p.m. Saturday at Jim Rush Funeral Homes, North Ocoee Chapel who is in charge of the arrangements.

Obituary: Lieutenant Kenneth Wayne Simpson, 46, a resident of Cleveland and formerly of Winchester, passed away at his home, Thursday evening, January 24, 2008. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ernest and Cordie Simpson, and Bennie and Camie Burnett. He was a member of East Side Church of Christ where he was also a deacon, and adult teacher. He was a member of the Winchester Tennessee Police Department from 1986-1987 as a patrolman and field training officer. He was a member of the Decherd Tennessee Police Department from 1987-1989 as an investigator. From 1989 to the present, he was a member of the Cleveland Police Department, starting out as a patrolman and working his way to Lieutenant. His various involvements with the Cleveland Police Department include, working as an undercover narcotics officer when first moving to Cleveland, being one of the first Housing Authority Officers, a grant writer for the Cleveland Police Department, a certified Radar Enforcement Instructor, a member of the Child Abuse Task Force, a member of the Child Exploitation Task Force and School Mentoring Programs. He attended FBI Criminal Investigation School, attended Northwestern University Drug Enforcement School, completed Internal Affairs Training through the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy, completed Administrative Officer's Training with the Department of Justice at the University of Louisville, had earned a Bachelor of Science from Middle Tennessee State University, and had earned a Masters Degree in English Literature from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He had received numerous community services awards and was a community services liaison for the Cleveland Police Department. He was recognized in Southeast Tennessee as a foremost authority in Gang Related Crimes Training. He was a recipient of the Courtney F. McGrady Award for Outstanding Service. He founded and was the head of the Cleveland Police Department Honor Guard. On January 24, 2008, he received the Wesley B. Snyder Sr. Memorial Award given to a member of the Cleveland Police Department Honor Guard. Lieutenant Simpson will be sadly missed by his loving family, his church, friends, and fellow officers. Survivors include: his wife, Linda Simpson; two sons, Joshua Simpson and Jacob Simpson all of Cleveland, his parents, Wayne and Billie Simpson of Winchester, one sister, Lynn Nageotte and her husband Randy of Fredericksburg, Virginia, nieces, Angie, Melony, and Misty, one nephew, Bryan, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Terrell and Martha Farmer of Winchester; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Janice and Ronnie Ray of Killen, Alabama, Betsy and Drew Pearson, of Cowan, Tennessee, a special aunt, Nina Jacobs, a very special friend, Luther Westfield, several aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive.
