Ginny Cat Rescuer Gonzalez
Birth: Apr. 1, 1988
Brooklyn
Queens County
New York, USA
Death: Aug. 25, 2005
New York, USA

Hero/cat rescuer. A Siberian husky/schnauzer mix she was sent to an animal shelter when she and her pups were discovered locked in a closet. She was adopted by Philip Gonzalez and often accompanied him as he made his regular rounds to feed stray cats in the area of Long Island, New York’s south shore. She showed an uncanny ability to sniff out and rescue stray cats often putting herself in peril to do so. In 1998 the Westchester Feline Club named her “Cat of the Year” for her heroism. In November of 2005 she was eulogized by the same club because she “saved hundreds of cats who were abandoned, injured or in harm’s way.” She is the subject of two books, “The Dog Who Loved Cats: The True Story of Ginny” and “The Blessing of the Animals”.
