Mildred C. Ehresman Askren 94, of Rosewalk Village, died Monday, October 17, 2005 in Home Hospital, Lafayette, Indiana. She had been a patient there since October 11 and in failing health for several months.

Mrs. Askren was born November 2, 1910 in Monitor, IN. She attended Purdue University majoring in Home Economics. She married John Arthur Askren of Indianapolis on October 24, 1931 in Urbana, IL. He died June 9, 1993.

Mrs. Askren was a homemaker who was believed by her family to be the best cook ever. For over 20 years, she was a Dresser for the Fashion Department of L.S. Ayres & Co. in Indianapolis. She lived there from 1953 until 1998 when she moved to Lafayette.

Mrs. Askren is survived by a son, Calvin N. Askren (wife: Betty) of Lafayette; and daughters, Marjorie C. Windle (husband: Jim L.) of West Lafayette and Norma S. Askren of Lafayette. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by daughter, Donna Lee Askren Fowler and son-in-law, Joseph M. Fowler
