Sgt Merritt Adams was a member of the Army. SGT Adams served our country until September 10th, 1970 in Kontum, South Vietnam. He was 19 years old and was not married. It was reported that Merritt died from an undetermined explosion. His body was recovered. Merritt was born on December 5th, 1950 in Center Road, Bladen County, North Carolina. SGT Adams is on panel 07W, line 051 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C.
A Very Proud Sister: I too can say he gave his all, loved his country and family. I remember the day he told our parents about his decision about joining the Army. He said I just want to serve my country. And thats just what he did. He had planned to build a home for Mom and Dad. Well he did just that with the sacrifice he gave for this country and for them. He served with Delta Company, 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, "The Rock", 173rd Airborne Brigade, USARV.
He was awarded The Combat Infantryman's Badge(CIB), The Purple Heart Medal for his combat related wounds, The Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal and The Good Conduct Medal.
