Newspaper obituary dated Mar. 25, 1937 (with minor corrections): Mrs. Minerva Conder, widow of Adam J. Conder, a Civil War veteran, died at 1:30 o'clock Monday afternoon of burns sustained at 7:30 o'clock that morning, when her clothing became ignited from a kitchen stove at the home seven miles south of Hurdland of her son, James Conder.
Mrs. Conder, who was 79 years old, was in the house alone at the time, but her screams were heard outside by Mrs. James Conder, who rushed to her aid.
Funeral services were at the home at 10 o'clock this morning by the Rev. C.H. Werner of Novelty. Burial was in the Mt. Tabor cemetery.
Mrs. Conder is survived by seven children: Mrs. Levi Vansickle, Mrs. Thomas Bartlow, and James E. and George Conder, Hurdland; Ruel B. Conder, Novelty; Charles Bert Conder, Markville, Minn.; and F. Dow Conder, Waverly, Ia.

As Minerva Holiday, a daughter of James and Zylpha Holiday, Mrs. Conder was born May 7, 1857 in Iowa. When quite young she moved with her parents to Coal City, Ind. where she was reared.
She and Mr. Conder were married in Indiana Sept. 21, 1879, and they moved to Missouri in 1882, settling in the southeast part of Adair County near the county line. They later moved to Knox County.
To Mr. and Mrs. Conder were born eight children, one of whom died in infancy and the seven mentioned survive. Mr. Conder died July 28, 1921 at the age of 76 years. Following his death, Mrs. Conder remained on the farm until last April when she moved to the home of her son, where death came.
