Alice Maude Sims Ketcham, daughter of Martin and Josephine (Peck) Sims, was born near Mason City, Illinois, on December 23, 1871, and departed this life at her home in Easton, Illinoi, Febuary 22, 1942, at the age of 70 years, one month and 29 days.
While a small child her family moved to Kilbourne, Illinois where she spent most of her life.
On January 10, 1894. She was united in marriage with Samuel D. Ketcham, and to this union three children were born.
They lived on a farm near Kilbourne until the sudden passing of Mr. Ketcham on Febuary 6, 1939, a shock from which she never recovered.
At an early age she became a member of the Kilbourne Methodist church. She lived a beautiful life of service and devotion to home and family.
Mrs. Ketcham is survived by two daughters, Mrs Ernest Hughes, Living near Easton, and Miss Goldie at home: one son, Pearl O. Ketcham of Worden, Illinois, and two brothers,John Sims of East Peoria, Illinois and Roy Sims of Elgin, Illinois and two sisters, Mrs Lillie Williamson, Randolph, Iowa and Mrs Fannie Hammond, East Peoria, Illinois. Six surviving grandchildren and two great grandchildren also join in mourning her passing.
Last services were conducted from the M. E. Methodist church in Kilbourne on Wednesday February 25, 1942 at 2 P.M., in charge of Rev. O.R. Spreckelmeyer, George Bloem and Mrs Gertrude Ryno sang three sacred songs during the services accompanied by Mrs. Arthur Hagan at the piano.
The floral offerings were cared for by Mrs James Pryer. Mrs E.B. Brooks, Mrs Joe Dobson, Mrs. H.D. McDowell, Mrs Harold Walters, Mrs G.H. Dimond and Miss Majorie Walters.
The casket bearers were: Albert Sears, Ira Sears, John Sears, Lofus Hawks, G.H. Diamond, and Jack Sathoff Internment was made in Kilbourne cemetery with Niederer Memorial Services in charge.
