Coroner Holds Inquest following his
Demise at St. Josephs Hospital
Verdict, Typhoid Fever.
Samuel Harmon died yesterday
morning at the St. Josephs hospital
and as the result of an attack of ty-
phoid fever according to the verdict
of the coroners jury which inquired
into the matter. The doctor in the
case refused to give a death certificate
because of the fact that he had not
had anything to do with attending the
patient and this made the inquest
necessary. The testimony of the wit-
nesses before the jury was to the ef-
fect that Mr. Harmon had been ill
for some time and altho a physician
was called the patient preferred
Christian Science treatment. He was
not a member of the church. On last
Wednesday Dr. Greenleaf testified that
he was called to the case but that the
patient refused to take any medicine.
The doctor was called again on
Wednesday and the patient was taken
to St. Josephs hospital in a deliri-
ous and unconscious condition. Death
followed yesterday morning. Drs.
Cantrell Greenleaf and DaCosta held
a post mortem examination, which
was ordered the coroner and de-
cided that death was the result of
typhoid. This was also the verdict of
the coroners jury.
Deceased was born in Kentucky 38
years ago. He had resided in the vi-
cinity of Bloomington for about twelve
years. For a part of this time he was
employed by the B.& N. on street
car service, He was united in marriage
eight years ago to Miss Lottie Jones
of Wapella, who with three children
survive his death. the children are
Ross Bertha and Ethel He also
leaves two brothers Tom and George
of Kentucky and a sister Mrs. Mag-
gie Derr also of Kentucky.
The funeral announcement will be
made as soon as arrangements are
completed.
