This obit of "Son" Olive came out in the Bastrop Enterprise on December 11, 1981. The newspaper picture of him is too unclear to scan.
Funeral services for Ernest Alonzo 'Son' Olive, 82, of Gallion will be held at 11:00 am Saturday at the Loche's Mortuary Chapel. Mr. Olive was a prominent farmer in the Mer Rouge area and well known in agricultural circles throughout North Louisiana.
Burial will be in the Cooper Lake Cemetery.
He died Thursday at the Morehouse General Hospital after a brief illness.
Mr. Olive was born October 1, 1899; the son of Mrs. Minnie Davenport Olive and Bert A. Olive. He resided in Morehouse Parish most of his life and was recognized as a concerned citizen and humanitarian.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine Tucker Olive; one son, Jerry Bert Olive; two grandchildren, Jerry Alonza Olive and Trevelyn J. Olive; one sister, Shirley Olive Carter; a brother, Jack Olive; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A quiet hour will be held between 7-8:00 tonight at the Loch Chapel.
I hear that the list of brother/sister is incorrect. Would love to have better information. My father, Son Sisson, had great respect for Mr. Olive. His grandchildren have strong shoulders upon which to stand.
