EARLE A. BOWMAN
Earle A. Bowman, who went from bookkeeper to the Commercial National Bank's board of directors, died May 1, 1996, at age 91. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 4, in Forest View Cemetery in Forest Grove.
Mr. Bowman was born Feb. 26, 1905, in Monument. He was reared in Ione, Portland, Kings Valley and Hillsboro, where he graduated from high school in 1925. He attended Northwestern School of Commerce one year.
Mr. Bowman joined the bank in 1930. He became vice president and later served on the banks' board. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II, attaining the rank of captain. After the war, he returned to the bank, which eventually merged with U.S. National Bank of Oregon. Mr. Bowman was a bank vice president until he retired in 1970. He was a member of Hillsboro's First Congregational Church and was chairman of its board of trustees and memorial fund committee. He moved to Forest Grove in 1988 and transferred membership to the United Church of Christ.
In 1930, Mr. Bowman married Geneva M. Ritchey, who died in 1984. He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
