Haarby Bergh Bechen, 79, died July 27, 1988 in Medford.
He was born in Hillsboro, Oregon, attending schools there before graduating from Oregon State Universty, Corvallis. From 1943 to 1945, he served in Europe with the 314th Infantry Division and for several months was a prisoner of war in Austria. He was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.
Returning to Klamath Falls, he was associated with Wilson Title and Abstract for many years, COPCO (now Pacific Power and Light) and later was an FHA appraiser for the state of Oregon.
He was an active member and involved with the affairs of the American Legion.
He is survived by sons, William and John, both Klamath Falls, and H. Bergh Bechen Jr., Banks; sisters, Helen Connell, Hillsboro, and Eleanor Bechen, Portland, eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
