Ben was the only child of Ben Charles Symmank, Sr. and Hedwig Neitsch Symmank. He worked for Southern Pacific/Union Pacific Railroad the majority of his career.
Ben is survived by his wife of 60 blessed years, Mary Frances Goodson Symmank; his eldest son Jim and wife Kathy; his daughter Cherie and husband John Niscavits; his youngest son Bob and wife Becky; his grandchildren Jennifer and husband Carl Modesette, Rebecca Symmank, Joseph Niscavits, Ben Niscavits and wife Crystin, John Niscavits, Matthew and Eric Symmank; and his great grandchildren: Cru, Alister and Jadwin Niscavits; Zoe and Eva Modesette. Ben was also blessed with a host of extended family and friends. His parents and his daughter Mary Lynn, preceded him in death.
The family will receive friends at Waltrip Funeral Directors, 1415 Campbell Road in Houston, where a visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 8th.
Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 9th at Woodlawn Garden of Memories, 1101 Antoine, followed by a memorial service at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 1515 Hillendahl, at 12:00 noon. The Reverends David V. Schultz, Steve Simon and Timothy Duerr will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, we suggest that you make donations to one of the following: International Mission Board (www.imb.org) to further the gospel of Jesus Christ; Hospice Compassus (hospicecompassus.com) whose loving staff ministered to Ben, Mary, and family as he made his journey to Heaven.
